RAUTENHAUS

2023 | Freising
With an open brief left to my interpretation – a challenge I like to embrace – I assembled ideas and planned a narrative to recite. I set out to produce a sequence of images encompassing two prominent themes that characterise the project: The geometric forms that extend to the garden design and the emphatic sense of connection to the surrounding nature. With these in mind, I composed perspectives that present the viewer with equal precedence of nature as to the architectural forms of the house.
Rautenhaus means Rhombus House in German, prompting me from the very start to highlight the geometric concept of the house. This theme naturally piqued my interest as I come from an architectural background.
I use drones in my photography work whenever necessary. A drone is essential to attain some perspectives that are otherwise impossible to get. Other times, it is used to help show the building in its broader context. In this shoot, I wanted to capture the geometric shapes of the house and the garden design, which was demonstrated best from the air. The aerial perspectives also set the scene, placing the house in the beautiful surrounding landscape.
